First Shots

First Shots provides opportunities for newcomers to give handgun shooting a try. Through partnerships with ranges, First Shots participants receive a comprehensive introduction to handgun shooting that includes safety, local ownership requirements, shooting fundamentals, hands-on instruction and how and where to continue.

Junior USA Shooting

Introduce youth to the safe fun of target shooting.  Under adult supervision, participants learn safety and shooting basics while earning official Junior USA Shooting team riflery or shotgunning patches.

Step Outside

It takes a hunter to make a hunter. This program encourages outdoor enthusiasts to welcome friends, family and special guests to share target shooting and other outdoor experiences such as hunting, archery and fishing with newcomers. Developed by the National Shooting Sports Foundation.

Boy Scouts of America

The Boy Scouts of America (BSA) has a long-standing policy of teaching its youth the safe, responsible and intelligent handling, care and use of firearms in planned, carefully managed, adult-supervised programs. NSSF's Junior USA Shooting Team Patch programs are popular rifle target and trapshooting activities that emphasize firearms safety and earn Scouts official Junior USA Shooting Team patches.The activities are featured annually in BSA's "Boys' Life" and "Scouting" magazines.

 

International Defense Pistol Association

The International Defensive Pistol Association (IDPA) oversees a shooting sport that simulates self-defense scenarios and real-life encounters. It is geared toward the new or average shooter but is also rewarding for the experienced shooter to test skill and ability. NSSF sponsors IDPA's Winter Championships and is a national-level premier sponsor of regional matches and competitions.

 

National 4-H Shooting Sports

4-H programs provide a positive experience for youth, promote safe and ethical use of firearms and help foster involvement of the total family in lifelong recreational activities. NSSF is a sponsor of 4-H shooting sports programs.

 

Sportsman's Team Challenge Association

The Sportsman's Team Challenge is an NSSF-developed rifle, shotgun and handgun competition that brings a new level of excitement, action and color to the shooting sports. NSSF is a title sponsor for the Association that hosts regional events and an annual National Championship.

 

USA Shooting

USA Shooting is the national governing body of the Olympic shooting sports and is responsible for training and selecting shooting teams to represent the United States at world game events and the Olympic Games. NSSF represents the industry as a member of the Board of Directors and sponsors its grassroots pistol program, the Junior Olympic Development Camp and the Junior USA Shooting Team Patch program.

 

United States Practical Shooting Association

The United States Practical Shooting Association (USPSA) promotes the fun of practical shooting that measures the ability to shoot rapidly and accurately with a handgun, rifle, and shotgun. USPSA offers practical shooting competitions across the country including its premiere USPSA National Championship Matches.

Single Action Shooting Society

The Single Action Shooting Society is an international organization created to preserve and promote the sport of Cowboy Action Shooting™. SASS endorses regional matches conducted by affiliated clubs, stages END of TRAIL The World Championship of Cowboy Action Shooting, promulgates rules and procedures to ensure safety and consistency in Cowboy Action Shooting matches, and seeks to protect its members' 2nd Amendment rights. SASS members share a common interest in preserving the history of the Old West and competitive shooting.

International Handgun Metallic Silhouette Association

The IHMSA organization started in 1976 with the purpose of promoting handgun silhouette competition. The object of the competition is to knock down metallic silhouettes (chickens, pigs, turkeys and rams) at various ranges to a maximum of 200 meters. The sport has spread to many countries and matches are shot all over the USA. Many different types of matches are shot and there is always one to suit any member of the family. The matches vary according to handgun type (.22 to big bore) and shooting position (standing to free style). We pride ourselves in our diversity as IHMSA is open to men, women and children of all ages and physical abilities.
